About Viv

In 2012 Vivien celebrated 25 years of making and demonstrating award-winning preserves and 18 years of judging preserves at competitions. Passionate about ensuring age-old traditional recipes are not passed over in favour of more modern interpretations, Vivien is keen to share her expertise and knowledge and to revive what she feels is a declining and misunderstood skill.

As a professional preserver, Vivien has been featured in Somerset Life, Sunday Telegraph, on BBC The One Show and Radio 4’s ‘Food Programme’. She has won numerous first prizes for her preserves at local and national level and in 2008 she won “Best of the Best” for her Seville orange marmalade at the World’s Original Marmalade Festival. Vivien’s winning recipe is featured in her books, and her DVD “Marvellous Marmalade”. Vivien’s marmalade is supplied to Appalachian Spring, Dartington and The Old Rectory, Wiltshire

Vivien’s Tomato and Chilli Chutney is made using locally sourced vegetables and home-grown chillies. Made in small batches this traditional chutney is available at a number of retail outlets in the South-West and online. In September 2012 Vivien won Fortnum and Mason’s Chutney Challenge with her Apricot and Seville Orange Chutney. For those who prefer to see at firsthand how to make high quality preserves, Vivien presents a number of seasonal workshops at her home in Somerset, at cookery schools and at food events in the UK.
